VIDEO: Vehicle torn in half in horrifying Yonkers two-car crash

Yonkers Crash That Killed 5 People

A speeding car fleeing from a traffic stop smashed into another vehicle in suburban New York, splitting one of them in half and killing five men overnight, four of them teenagers.

The driver of one of the cars was killed in what officials have described as a ‘catastrophic’ crash on Tuesday in Yonkers, along with four boys, all age 18, in the other vehicle. Friends described the youths as recent high school graduates, according to WNBC.

The deadly collision took place at 9.23pm on Riverdale Avenue near Culver Street in the Ludlow Park neighborhood.

Chunks of debris and twisted car parts from the wreckage were strewn across three blocks. Riverdale Avenue was closed for more than eight hours as authorities worked to piece together what had happened.

Gas station security video showed a white Infiniti sedan with only the driver inside speeding before it barreled into the vehicle occupied by the four teens.

On Wednesday, police identified the driver of the infiniti as 36-year-old Devon Haywood, of Mount Vernon. The occupants of the other car were identified as Brandon Sierra; Randy Brisbane; Tamari Watkins, and Anthony Cruz, all 18 from Yonkers.

Shortly before the collision, police observed Haywood operating his white 2009 Inifniti ‘in an erratic manner with equipment violations’ and made at attempt to pull him over. Haywood appeared to stop in front of 47-85 Riverdale Avenue, but then accelerated at a high rate of speed southbound.

Officers followed the Infiniti, but a Yonkers police spokesperson stressed to DailyMail.com that they were not chasing Haywood because they ‘intuitively know not to engage in high-speed pursuits.’

The Infiniti continued to accelerate ‘beyond reckless speeds’ as it approached the intersection at Culver Street, when a silver 2006 Nissan sedan occupied by the four teenagers was making a right turn south onto Riverdale Avenue.

As the Nissan entered the intersection, the Infiniti crashed into it, resulting in what police described as ‘catastrophic damage’ to both vehicles; the force of the impact split the Nissan in half.

All four occupants were ejected onto the roadway and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti had to be extricated from his mangled car using ‘Jaws of Life.’

He was transported to Jacobi Hospital, where he later died. The first officer arrived on the scene 15 seconds after the crash. Maria Delgado, who lives in the area, told WABC-TV she heard a loud noise and a man running and saying,

‘Oh my God, oh my God!’ She said she went outside and saw bodies and one of the cars split in half. ‘Last night’s car accident on Riverdale Avenue was nothing short of tragic,’ Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano stated.

‘Four young lives were cut short by the recklessness of one individual. Let this be a lesson to all who drive at excessive speeds – it not only puts your life at risk but also the innocent lives with whom you share the road. My deepest condolences and prayers go to the families of those lost, especially during this holiday season.’

The four victims were all 2020 graduates of Saunders Trades and Technical High School, according to a press release from Yonkers Public Schools.

‘Our prayers and condolences are with the family members and friends suffering today,’ Superintendent Edwin M. Quezada stated. ‘These young men were beloved students at Saunders.’SHOW LESS

TAX CUT: The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved the 2021 budget on December 15th – By Brian Harrod

greenburgh’s 2021 budget includes no tax hike (actually a small tax decrease).

GREENBURGH: There are two Greenburgh, NY budgets: one of the budgets is for both the unincorporated section of the town and the villages.

And a 2nd budget is for only unincorporated Greenburgh residents.

The total amount of the budget that impacts the villages is $32,880,631.

The total amount of the budget impacting only unincorporated Greenburgh is $87,123,514.

The town portion of your tax bill does not include school, county or fire district taxes which we have no control over.

For most residents the town portion of your taxes is about 17% of your entire tax bill (there are some fluctuations depending on where you live).

For residents of the villages with an assessment of $500,000 the tax bill will be $226.31 in 2021 compared to $229.55 last year.

For residents of unincorporated the tax bill will be $3,060.92 compared to $3,096.77 last year.

RABIES ALERT: Rabid Black Stray Kitten In New Rochelle, NY – By Brian Harrod

The Westchester County Department of Health is alerting residents that a black stray kitten that was caught on Mount Joy Place between Chauncey Avenue and Coligni Avenue in New Rochelle on December 8, was confirmed to be rabid

NEW ROCHELLE: kitten bit an employee at the New Rochelle Humane Society on December 10.  It was brought to the shelter by a resident who had been caring for the sick kitten. The employee is being treated for rabies exposure and the resident is being evaluated for rabies exposure.

Anyone who believes they, their children or their pet may have had contact with this kitten between December 2 and December 8 is encouraged to call the Westchester County Department of Health at 914-813-5000 to assess the need for lifesaving rabies treatment.

When administered early enough, before symptoms develop, the treatment is fully effective. Once symptoms occur, the disease is fatal.

The health department used robo-calls today to notify nearby residents.

“Stay alert and closely supervise children and pets when outside,” said Health Commissioner Sherlita Amler, MD. “To protect yourself and your pets, make sure your pets’ rabies vaccines are up to date.”

Unusual behavior may be the first sign of rabies in an animal. A rabid animal may become either abnormally aggressive or unusually tame. It may lose fear of people and become excited and irritable, or, conversely appear particularly passive and lethargic. Staggering and frothing at the mouth are sometimes noted.

Residents who see a stray or wild animal acting strangely should avoid contact with the animal and alert local authorities to avoid possible exposure to rabies. Residents are also advised to keep their trash can lids securely sealed and avoid leaving pet food outdoors.

Any physical contact with a wild or unfamiliar animal should be reported to a health care provider. All animal bites or contacts with animals suspected of having rabies must be reported to the Westchester County Department of Health at (914) 813-5000, 24 hours a day.

Keeping pet rabies vaccinations up to date is also important for protection against rabies. New York State law requires dogs, cats and ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies and receive regular booster shots.  For more information call (914) 813-5010.

Lawrence A. Chiulli Saves A Life

On August 27, 2020 at approximately 2:30pm, Lawrence A. Chiulli was hiking on Bear Mountain with his girlfriend and her mother.

Upon reaching the top of the mountain, a young child approaches Lawrence, his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s mother.

The boy shows Lawrence a picture of his relative, a 10 year old named Alejandro, and asks if any of them have seen him while hiking.

None of them have seen the boy, so Lawrence immediately jumps into action. He first sends his girlfriend and her mother down the mountain to look, and instructs them to call him if they found the boy.

Then, Lawrence has the boy bring him to the last point he saw Alejandro.

Quickly and safely, Lawrence and the relative trek down the mountain to Alejandro’s last known spot. While going down the mountain, Lawrence continuously checked that the boy with him was okay; constantly keeping him calm while gathering necessary information pertinent to the situation that would help him quickly and effectively find Alejandro safely.

Lawrence asks if he has a nickname, to which the relative responds “Ale”.

Lawrence and the relative call out the name while going down the mountain.

Then, Lawrence and the boy hear Ale: he was crying and hanging from the side of the mountain. Immediately,

Lawrence runs to where he is, tells him not to move, and calms him down. Lawrence then calls the Police, Fire Department and EMS, providing them with a description of why he is calling, efforts that are needed and a detailed location.

Lawrence asks the relative to stay put with his other relatives before scaling the side of the mountain and in order to make his way to Alejandro.

The climb was off trail and very steep with several loose rocks and boulders, but Lawrence knew that he had to quickly and efficiently climb to and help the boy. As he scaled, he called out, “Ale! Don’t move, Ale! You’re doing good, Ale! Let me hear your voice, Ale!”

Finally Lawrence is able to get close enough to help just as Alejandro starts to slip and fall off the mountain.

Lawrence Grabs Alejandro with his left arm, maintains balance with his right arm, and clutches onto the mountain with his right hand, causing a sharp rock to stab through Lawrence’s right palm.

Lawrence then turns Alejandro around, helping him to kick his legs up to maintain balance.

At this time, Lawrence is also maintaining balance while removing any moss, loose dirt, loose rocks or anything that would affect either of their footings. He then stamps and pushes the ground down to harden the area.

First responders arrive, and Lawrence informs them of all details pertinent to the situation. Lawrence continues to speak to Alejandro to help him remain calm and comfortable, while also encouraging him to know that he is capable of hanging on.

During this time, Lawrence also has Alejandro tell first responders everything they need to know, but while awaiting the Fire Department’s arrival, Alejandro’s legs, feet and ankles were burning, arms tired and body cramping. Alejandro was scared and confided in Lawrence that he had to move positions.

After devising a plan, Lawrence tells first responders that he will execute this plan with their approval. At this point, Lawrence asks Alejandro how much he weighs, he replies about “110-120”. Lawrence instructs Alejandro on everything he has to do to get him to a new location safely.

Alejandro informs Lawrence his legs are no longer working; he cannot feel them and cannot move them.

So Lawrence, while maintaining his own balance, picks up Alejandro, and then pushes his left leg in a safe place on a sapling and leans his bent right leg against the mountain.

He picks up Alejandro and places him on his right leg, in order to stretch out Alejandro’s legs and take away his pain.

Alejandro now, while resting his weight on Lawrence, is able to lean against the mountain safely due to Lawrence holding them both up.

The fire department then arrives, but due to the goat trail and location of the incident, it was not easily accessible.

Lawrence continues to hold himself and Ale up while waiting for the fire truck to make their way to the correct location..

Once the ladder was set up and the fireman operating it was coming through, Lawrence began assisting him with information on trees, branches, distance and any other blockades for the ladder to ensure they could reach him properly.

Once the ladder finally gets to them, Lawrence helps Alejandro safely get into the ladder bucket before climbing in himself. All while continuing to make sure Alejandro was comfortable, safe and calm.

The fireman instructs them that he is bringing them down to the street level. Once arriving on the street, EMS performs any medical checks needed, then cleans out the slice on Lawrence’s palm and checks out his leg that held him and Alejandro up for an hour.

Once they get the okay from EMS, Lawrence thanks the first responders. Alejandro’s family then thanks Lawrence immensely for saving Alejandro’s life before Lawrence gives a hug to Alejandro and says his goodbyes.

ROUNDUP VIDEO: Texas Man’s Obituary Blames Trump Governor Abbott for COVID 19 Death – By Brian Harrod

TRANSCRIPT: An obituary penned by the family of a Texas man who died in late July from complications tied to coronavirus took direct aim at “selfish people” refusing to wear masks and President Donald Trump for refusing to “take this pandemic seriously.”David W. Nagy, of Jefferson, Texas, died at age 79 late last month, leaving behind his “inconsolable wife” Stacey, five children and several grandchildren, according to his obituary published in the local Jefferson Jimplecute newspaper. The obituary described how Nagy “suffered greatly from the ravages of the COVID-19 virus,” before quickly changing tone and blaming others for his death. Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, Trump and other “ignorant” people were listed as partially responsible for not treating the coronavirus pandemic with seriousness. The obituary ridiculed so-called anti-maskers for refusing to wear protective facial coverings during the pandemic, which “kill[ed] innocent people,” including Nagy.”Family members believe David’s death was needless,” his wife, Stacey Nagy, wrote in the July 30 obituary, which has since been shared in thousands of screenshots on social media. “They blame his death on Trump, Abbott, and all the politicians who did not take this pandemic seriously and were more concerned with their popularity and votes than lives.””Also to blame are the many ignorant, self centered and selfish people who refused to follow the advice of the medical professionals, believing their ‘right’ not to wear a mask was more important than killing innocent people,” the obituary continued. “David did everything he was supposed to do, but you did not. Shame on all of you, and may Karma find you all!”Newsweek reached out to members of the family through Facebook and also to Governor Abbott’s office for reactions Tuesday morning but did not hear back before publication. Nagy died in the ICU at Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas on July 22. According to his family, he was born on November 7, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, before spending most of his life in California and finally retiring to North Texas.”I was angry at the situation and the way people are talking and treating the pandemic, the way people act like this is nothing,” Stacey, 72, said in an interview with The Washington Post Tuesday. “It’s because of their carelessness, and because of our politicians not getting control of this thing is why so many people are dying. I was just very, very angry. That’s why I wrote it and I meant everything I said in it.”Nagy’s wife told the Post she was angered that coronavirus cases re-emerged in many states and she felt obliged to use her husband’s last public message as a means for change.
