For the past six years, the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have staged biannual presentations of their haute-couture, or Alta Moda, collections. The extravagant events, in which the designers show custom-made, one-of-a-kind pieces for both women and men, have until now taken place largely in Italian resort towns.
