High-level advisers close to then-presidential nominee Donald Trump were in constant communication during the campaign with Russians known to US intelligence, multiple current and former intelligence, law enforcement and administration officials tell CNN. President-elect Trump and then-President Barack Obama were both briefed on details of the extensive communications between suspected Russian operatives and people associated with the Trump campaign and the Trump business, according to US officials familiar with the matter.

North Korea appeared to fire a ballistic missile early Sunday in what would be its first such test of the year and an implicit challenge to President Donald Trump, who stood with the Japanese leader as Shinzo Abe called the move "intolerable." There was no immediate confirmation from the North, which had recently warned it was ready to test its first intercontinental ballistic missile.

Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would receive North Korea's dictator for a visit to the United States and again rejected criticism over his willingness to sit down with Kim Jong Un. Trump asked during a campaign event here, while conceding that he would have a very slim chance of convincing the North Korean leader to abandon his country's nuclear weapons program.
