Bob Menendez weighed in on Hudson County's decision to renew its financial agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, saying if he were in charge he would not support "ICE's mission as it relates to detaining individuals."

Mayor Davis and city council sworn in Pledges and promises for second term

On Sunday, July 1, Mayor Jimmy Davis and Bayonne's five city council members took their oaths of office for new terms. The event featured remarks by NJ Gov. Phil Murphy, U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, Hudson County Freeholder Kenneth Kopacz, and former City Council President Joseph Makowski.

12 Hudson County heroes to be honored at Valor Awards luncheon

A dozen first-responders, some who risked their lives to save others last year, will be honored next week at the Hudson County 200 Club's annual Valor Awards luncheon. The special honorees are seven Jersey City police officers, one Hudson County Prosecutor's Office detective, three Bayonne firefighters and a corrections officer.

Small plane goes down on Avenue E A small Piper PA-28 plane crashed on Avenue E between 41st and 42nd Streets on the morning of Sunday, February 19, injuring the pilot and causing damage to several vehicles and wires, according to the Bayonne Police Department. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found pieces of the mangled plane dispersed on the street and hanging from telephone wires, while the body of the plane fell upside down onto the street, according to the Bayonne Fire Department.

Election fraud alleged in lawsuit filed by Bayonne GOP group

Accusations of election fraud that flew between the city's longtime Republican chairman and a recently formed Republican group earlier this summer have since been formalized in a lawsuit by the latter. In a July 15 complaint filed in Hudson County Superior Court, the "Real Republicans" group accuses GOP chairman Vincent Cuseglio of having enlisted people to run for committee spots they were ineligible for, among other claims.
