Even though Lake Ontario water levels have decreased some, Mother Nature keeps ratcheting up the winds and storms and battering the shoreline with more and more force this season. As of Aug. 4, the lake level was at 247 feet 10 inches, down from a high of nearly 249 feet in June.
For the 2nd straight day, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul toured communities along Lake Ontario still battling the effects of a rapidly eroding shoreline.
As advocates for the St. Lawrence River shared excitement Saturday about the recent approval of Plan 2014, they also committed to ensuring its future. The plan, which regulates water levels on the river and Lake Ontario, received approval from the American and Canadian governments in December after 16 years of development.
