Cleveland Browns acquire a QB they don’t want in creative effort to finally find one they do

We all knew the Browns added a baseball guy, president Paul DePodesta, to their analytics-driven, outside-the-box thinking front office a year ago. Who knew they’d bring some basketball salary cap magic into the equation in Year Two? Arguably no team created a greater buzz than Cleveland on the opening day of the league year Thursday, when after investing more than $100 million in the offensive line – one year after letting two stalwarts walk in free agency – it acquired Brock Osweiler, but more importantly Osweiler’s $16 million cap charge in 2017, and most importantly a 2018 second-round pick from Houston, for a fourth-rounder.
