Reds claim 1B Christian Walker, designate Jumbo Diaz for assignment

Jumbo Diaz threw an inning against the Chicago Cubs on Friday, in which he allowed a pair of dingers and 4 runs on 3 hits with nary a strikeout recorded. It appears those may well be the final pitches he’ll throw as a member of the Cincinnati Reds , since he was designated for assignment by the team Monday afternoon, according to The Enquirer’s Zach Buchanan.

Quebec musher collects 8th win in Maine’s Can-Am Crown

A Quebec musher picked up his eighth victory in Maine’s biggest sled dog race, finishing the truncated 250-mile Irving Woodlands Can-Am Crown 28 minutes ahead of his closest competitor. Martin Massicotte, of St. Tite, Quebec, completed the course late Sunday, finishing the race in 20 hours, 7 minutes and 38 seconds.

Patriots re-sign James Develin

As an impending unrestricted free agent, Patriots fullback James Develin would be able to start talking contract numbers with the league’s 31 other teams on Tuesday when the “legal tampering” window opens ahead of free agency. Develin won’t have any need to do that, however.

Campaign under way to create national Rosie the Riveter Day

Jacketsa Bobrovsky makes 20 saves in second straight shutout

Sergei Bobrovsky is having one of those years goaltenders dream about, and it is making the Columbus Blue Jackets a team to fear when the playoffs start next month. Bobrovsky made 20 saves in posting his second straight shutout and franchise-record 34th win of the season, and the Blue Jackets beat reeling New Jersey 3-0 on Sunday, sending the Devils to their seventh straight loss.

Where is the high pick and roll

Has anyone else noticed since the All Star Break, we have stopping running High Pick and Roll? This use to be our bread and butter between Gortat and Wall and to be honest I thought we ran to much of it and teams would figure it out in the post season, but now we are not running it at all. I believe that this is significantly decreased the good/comfortable looks john wall use to get at the elbow and has lowered Gortat’s ppg because now is offense is limited to post moves.
