A Sydney nurse sacked over her alleged inflammatory rhetoric in an online video is no longer accused of threatening to kill Israeli patients after prosecutors dropped a charge.

Sarah Abu Lebdeh, 27, and Ahmad Rashad Nadir, 28, sparked widespread criticism when a video was released of the pair saying they would refuse to treat Israeli patients and appearing to threaten violence towards them.

One person has died and seven people – including five police officers – are being treated in hospital after a gas leak at a restaurant in Sydney’s north-west.

New South Wales ambulance said the people who had been taken to hospital were all in a stable condition.

Trump at first says he is ‘not familiar’ with Minnesota Democrat’s assassination

President says he would have ordered half-staff flags for Melissa Hortman if Tim Walz had asked him to do so

In response to a question about why he did not order flags lowered to half-staff to honor Melissa Hortman, the Democratic speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives who was assassinated alongside her husband this summer, Donald Trump initially said he was “not familiar” with the case.

The question came up during a briefing in the Oval Office on Monday, in light of the president’s order last week to lower flags in response to the killing of rightwing activist Charlie Kirk.
