Sen. Rand Paul, one of President Donald Trump's more eager defenders on Russia, jetted into Moscow on Monday in a bid to increase engagement with the country. Paul, R-Ky., met with several Russian senators including Sergey Kislyak, Russia's former envoy to Washington and a key player at the heart of the election meddling scandal that continues to rock relations between the United States and Russia.
U.S. Senator Rand Paul said he invited Russian lawmakers to Washington, after talks in Moscow that his hosts called a signal to President Donald Trump of a desire to build ties. Paul told reporters Monday that he issued the invitation at a meeting with members of the international relations committee of Russia's upper house of parliament, including the chairman, Konstantin Kosachyov, and Sergey Kislyak, the former Russian ambassador to the U.S. The Republican lawmaker, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, "has access" to Trump and top U.S. officials "and we expect that we will be able to convey through him our signals" of a desire to establish dialogue, Kosachyov said, according to the state-run RIA Novosti news service.
For almost a decade, Google has been conspicuously absent from China. This includes all of Google's products and services such as search, Gmail, and so on, and to a certain extent even Android where Android devices in China are essentially forked versions of Android with Google's services stripped from it.
By LISA MASCARO, AP Congressional Correspondent WASHINGTON - Now that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has met privately with almost every Republican senator, it's becoming increasingly clear President Donald Trump's pick for the bench is running into little GOP resistance to confirmation this fall.
Vladimir Putin would not dream of a system in which the president isn't in charge. "The issue, I think, for us in the midterms is, what message is Putin hearing? Is he hearing the message that we heard from [Director of National Intelligence Daniel] Coats and [FBI Director Christopher A.] Wray and others in that press conference at the White House, or is hearing the message of the president of the United States? And I fear that the message that the Kremlin cares most about is what they hear from Donald Trump, and that is still one of denial and cover for the Russians."
If you want to know why Bruce Rauner doesn't know what to say about Donald Trump , consider the fallout from the president's latest Twitter war juxtaposed with POTUS's proposed capital gains tax cut. One of which got a ton of publicity, the other almost none at all.
Despite releasing a comprehensive and remarkably radical criminal justice reform agenda in 2015, Senator Bernie Sanders was accused throughout his presidential campaign of being insufficiently concerned with the topic, and of habitually changing the subject to economics . The reality is that Mr. Sanders has the clearest insight into the connections between criminal justice issues and economic inequality of any major politician today.
The three Republican contenders vying to challenge U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren will face off for the first time tomorrow in a potentially pivotal debate on Boston Herald Radio. The hourlong debate live on the "Battenfeld" show, set for noon in the Herald Radio studio, will be the first time all three GOP candidates sit down together and tangle over the issues - ranging from taxes to President Trump to foreign policy.
A Second Amendment position has already cost one Republican attorney general candidate an endorsement from Connecticut's premiere gun rights group, and it's likely to continue to be part of the discussion through the November election. The issue - how the government regulates 3D printed guns, also known as ghost guns because they are untraceable - has catapulted its way into the 2018 election in Connecticut and across the country.
There's a segment in the legendary 1990s tv show Animaniacs called "Good Idea, Bad Idea" where the character Mr. Skullhead demonstrates ideas both good and bad. The presentations are quite logical - why would someone even attempt to drink milk straight from the cow? - and narrated by the illustrious Tom Bodett of Motel 6 fame.
Democrats in the Kansas City suburbs are set to decide on Tuesday what type of candidate they believe can win in a red state during Donald Trump's presidency. The House primary in Kansas' 3rd District is a microcosm of the ideological battles playing out in the Democratic Party in House races this year and ahead of the 2020 presidential election, when the same battles will be front and center.
If you thought Congress was already polarized , wait and see what happens when dozens of senators are stuck in Washington together for most of swampy August. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, canceled the usual monthlong recess this year for his chamber, a tradition that spans decades and was born out of lawmakers' efforts to ensure they'd have a set time they could travel home every legislative calendar.
Rain storms triggered widespread flooding in Charleston on July 20, but other areas of South Carolina are also susceptible to water damage. "Our entire state is in the flood zone, in my opinion," says S.C. Insurance Department chief Ray Farmer.
Mayfield Messenger: Parties fight it out at Fancy Farm Original URL: By Shelley Byrne The Mayfield Messenger Although the political speeches had their usual share of zingers and one-liners, the crowds at the 138th St. Jerome Catholic Church's Fancy Farm Picnic were loudest when candidates spoke about pension reform for state workers, including teachers. A vocal group of protesters wearing red shirts labeled with #120Strong, including many teachers, booed and cheered candidates in turn.

True, he's not polished in his demeanor, but he has an unerring way of instilling the most uncertainty in any situation in the least amount of time. Whether through executive orders, tweets, cable-news interviews, or rallies, he regularly leaves diplomacy in the dust, while allegedly delivering for a faithful base of supporters who voted for him as the ultimate anti-diplomat.
