Secret British ‘black propaganda’ campaign targeted cold war enemies

Britain stirred up tensions, chaos and violence in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, according to declassified papers

The British government ran a secret “black propaganda” campaign for decades, targeting Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia with leaflets and reports from fake sources aimed at destabilising cold war enemies by encouraging racial tensions, sowing chaos, inciting violence and reinforcing anti-communist ideas, newly declassified documents have revealed.

The effort, run from the mid-1950s through to the late 70s by a unit in London that was part of the Foreign Office, was focused on cold war enemies such as the Soviet Union and China, leftwing liberation groups and leaders that the UK saw as threats to its interests

Is Roseanne Barr what America has Become?

The cancellation of Roseanne Barr's situation comedy reboot at ABC/Disney is not, as some of my more serious acquaintances on social media are saying, unimportant. Barr's attack via Twitter on former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett , is an important moment in American cultural history.

In the time it takes to tweet, Roseanne Barr loses her job

In the time it took to compose a 53-character tweet, Roseanne Barr went from a hero that ABC was banking upon to unemployed. The network canceled its hit reboot of "Roseanne" Tuesday after Barr's racist tweet that referred to former Valerie Jarrett, adviser to former President Barack Obama, as a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and the "Planet of the Apes."

Pope and I in Cairo

In Cairo, Pope Francis, once again, did what he usually does best: he snapped at the state of immorality and selfishness, which is governing the world, particularly in the West. The message to Egypt's priests could actually be directed at the population of the European and North American cities: The first temptation is to letting ourselves to be led, rather than to lead The second temptation is complaining constantly The third temptation is gossip and envy The fourth temptation is comparing us with those better off The fifth temptation is individualism, 'me, and after me the flood' the final temptation is 'keep walking without direction or destination' Pope Francis gave speeches, and met the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Why Designating Muslim Brotherhood ‘Terrorists’ will harm Democracy at home and Abroad

A US government designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization, which the Trump administration is reportedly considering, would threaten the rights to association of Muslim groups in the United States. Such a designation would also undermine the ability of the Muslim Brotherhood's members and supporters to participate in democratic politics abroad.

Trump might designate IRGC, Muslim Brotherhood terror groups

The White House is weighing designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Muslim Brotherhood as "Foreign Terrorist Organizations," administration officials familiar with the deliberations told CNN. But executive orders on the matter have been put on hold amid pushback from national security agencies concerned about the consequences of such a move, they said.

Trump administration should label Muslim Brotherhood ‘terrorist organization’

Trump himself was often critical of President Obama's outreach to the Muslim Brotherhood, and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has proposed a bill to call for declaring the Brotherhood a terror organization. In the past, it has been accused of supporting terrorist groups around the world, and several countries, including Muslim nations, have banned them.
