Day Laborer Charged In Murder Of North Salem Socialite Returns To Court

The former day laborer charged in the bludgeoning death of an 83-year-old socialite on a sprawling 300-acre estate that shocked the bucolic town of North Salem and the area returned to the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains on Thursday for a pre-trial conference. After pleading not guilty of murder in the second degree at his arraignment last month, 32-year-old Esdras Anibal Marroquin Gomez, known as "Victor," was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.

Obama plans to increase number of refugees admitted to U.S.: media

The Obama Administration plans to increase the number of refugees admitted to the United States by 30 percent in fiscal year 2017, according to the Wall Street Journal, which cited an annual refugee report submitted to Congress.
