Newspaper readers saw a lot of ‘vulgarity’ but not a lot of ‘shithole’

Vice President Pence, left, and Rep. Louie Gohmert watch as President Trump signs a bill on Jan. 10. The Washington Post's initial report on President Trump's description of Haiti, El Salvador and the nations of Africa as "shitholes" didn't prompt much consternation about whether we should use the word itself in our reporting. "When the president says it, we'll use it verbatim," Post Executive Editor Martin Baron told Washingtonian about the decision.

Fox News confirmed Trump’s ‘s**thole’ comment but…

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Fox News host Sandra Smith noted that her network "has confirmed" that President Trump indeed called African countries "shitholes" during a meeting with lawmakers on Thursday. A Moment of Significance and Opportunity for Ethiopia

Since November 2015 unprecedented protests have been taking place in Ethiopia: angry and frustrated at the widespread abuse of human rights and the centralization of power in the hands of the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front tens of thousands have taken to the streets. The ruling party's response to this democratic outpouring has been consistently violent; hundreds have been killed and beaten by security forces, tens of thousands arrested and imprisoned.

Woman who started the ‘s***** media men’ list outs herself

A woman who says she started a spreadsheet compiling alleged male sexual harassers and harassers in American media outed herself online in an apparent attempt to preempt any doxxing from an upcoming Harper's Magazine expose. "In the beginning, I only wanted to create a place for women to share their stories of harassment and assault without being needlessly discredited or judged," Moira Donegan wrote in a piece published late Wednesday on The Cut .

Bannon Is Out, And We Already Have The Stupidest Take

Mr. Bannon's departure, which was forced by a onetime financial patron, Rebekah Mercer, comes as Mr. Bannon remained unable to quell the furor over remarks attributed to him in a new book in which he questions President Trump's mental fitness and disparages his elder son, Donald Trump Jr. And barely an hour or two after this was announced, we had this terrible take from Jon Healey of the Los Angeles Times : Having lost Breitbart as an outlet for his views on how to make America great again, Bannon may lose whatever influence he had left over the movement he helped create.

Trump Claims News Anchors Sent Him ‘Letters Of Congratulations’ On His Open Immigration Meeting

During a press briefing today, as Trump read off a prepared list of what he believes his incredible presidential accomplishments are, like he always does, Trump claimed he received letters of high praise from a lot of news anchors over yesterday's open immigration meeting. Trump said, "Yesterday, we had a bipartisan meeting with House members and Senators on immigration reform, something they've been talking about for many, many years, but we brought them together in this room, and it was a tremendous meeting."

Trump Suggests ‘Bill of Love’ Deal for Dreamers

Seeking a bipartisan compromise to avoid a government shutdown, President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday that an immigration deal could be reached in two phases -- first by addressing young immigrants and border security with what he called a "bill of love," then by making comprehensive changes that have long eluded Congress. Trump presided over a lengthy meeting with Republican and Democratic lawmakers seeking a solution for hundreds of thousands of young people who were brought to the U.S. as children and living here illegally.

Do We Actually Have A President?

Axios reports on what it tells us is the president's real schedule -- not the one that's released to the public,. It's -- how do I put this? -- relaxed: President Trump is starting his official day much later than he did in the early days of his presidency, often around 11am, and holding far fewer meetings, according to copies of his private schedule shown to Axios.

Playboy Reporter: Republicans Won’t Invoke 25th Amendment As Long As…

With all of the speculation about Trump and his fitness for office since the release of Michael Wolff's new book the topic of whether anyone will finally invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from office was being discussed on every single one of the Sunday talk shows this weekend. Trump took to Twitter again this morning and made the unfortunate analogy to how Ronald Reagan was treated when he was in office... I've had to put up with the Fake News from the first day I announced that I would be running for President.
