Watchdog report: Ex-FBI deputy director misled investigators

Andrew McCabe, the fired FBI deputy director, misled investigators multiple times about his role in a news media disclosure about Hillary Clinton just days before the 2016 presidential election and authorized the release of information to "advance his personal interests," according to a Justice Department watchdog report. The report alleges that McCabe authorized FBI officials to speak with a Wall Street Journal reporter for a story about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation, in violation of agency rules, and then misled FBI and Justice Department officials when later questioned about it.

As Paul Ryan’s approval climbs, he decides to depart

While Republicans still like Paul Ryan, his imminent departure as Speaker - next January or perhaps sooner - won't break too many up. Polls running from a year ago to more recently show may Americans have become disillusioned with the friendly, wonky, optimistic Wisconsin native who walked down the gangway of that aircraft carrier in 2012 into our national life as the newly-introduced vice presidential running mate of Mitt Romney.

George Pyle Opinion

Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg doesn't want his online empire slapped with a new regime of regulations, especially regulations written by people who think that deleting cookies is a euphemism for throwing up. So he was willing to sit there for two days, listening to old people who have no clue about what he has built and what parts of it might have escaped from his lab to wreak havoc among the ignorant villagers, promising to get back to them on technical questions and patiently explaining that just about all of the privacy bells and whistles the members of Congress suggested are already on there, somewhere, if you just keep clicking through.

Comey: Why, no, I didn’t tell Trump the dossier material came from…

Wasn't worth mentioning to the incoming president that the FBI was investigating him based on oppo research paid for by his political enemies, huh? If I were Trump, I think I might have found that relevant. If a Democratic president were the subject of a federal investigation kickstarted by the RNC, I think the left would have wanted him/her to know about its provenance as soon as possible too.

Trump Fires Back At Sharply Critical Book, Calls Comey ‘Slime Ball’

Firing back at a sharply critical book by former FBI director James Comey, President Donald Trump blasted him Friday as an "untruthful slime ball," saying, "It was my great honor to fire James Comey!" Trump reacted on Twitter early Friday, the day after the emergence of details from Comey's memoir, which says Trump is "untethered to truth," and describes him as fixated in the early days of his presidency on having the FBI debunk salacious rumors he said were untrue but that could distress his wife. James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR.

Bernie Sanders in the Deep South

"Sanders explained that he believes his agenda, which includes Medicare for All and free public education, will have an especially "profound and positive" effect on communities of color." Last week, I joined Bernie Sanders in Memphis, Tennessee, and Jackson, Mississippi, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination.

The FBI was more interested in forcing Apple to unlock the San Bernardino shooter's cellphone rather look at other options in a time-sensitive investigation, a group of bipartisan members of Congress said Friday. APNewsBreak: Indiana GOP locked candidate out of database

In this Aug. 9, 2017, file photo, Indiana Rep. Todd Rokita speaks during a news conference outside of the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. Rokita likely violated ethics laws as Indiana's secretary of state by repeatedly accessing a Republican donor database from his government office, prompting party officials to lock him out of the system until he angrily complained, three former GOP officials told The Associated Press.

Struggle to replace Ryan could blow up Congress budget deal

A six-month budget truce stitched together by Congress in March could unravel if Republican leaders vying to replace U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan indulge party conservatives who want to renege on critical parts of the pact. At issue is a resurgent move by conservative Republicans to rescind, or cut about $60 billion in non-defense domestic spending increases that were key to winning Democratic votes.

5 Insights From Comey’s Memoir: Ex-FBI Chief Blasts Trump As Mob-Like

James Comey's much-anticipated memoir A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership doesn't pull any punches when it comes to condemning the roughly 15-month tenure of President Trump. The former FBI director, whom Trump unceremoniously fired, paints a picture of a chief executive only concerned about his own image in the press instead of the safety of the nation.

In new book, Comey blasts untruthful, a ego-drivena Trump

Former FBI Director James Comey blasts President Donald Trump as unethical and "untethered to truth" in a sharply critical new book that describes Trump as fixated in the early days of his administration on having the FBI debunk salacious rumors he insisted were untrue but could distress his wife. In the forthcoming book, Comey compares Trump to a mafia don and calls his leadership of the country "ego driven and about personal loyalty."
