FAU hits 15 3-pointers in 94-82 win over Southern Miss

Gerdarius Troutman hit seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points, both career highs, Adonis Filer made 9 of 10 free throws and finished with 17 points and Florida Atlantic pulled away in the second half to beat Southern Miss 94-82 on Saturday night. Troutman was 9-of-12 shooting, Filer was 4 of 4 from the field and Justin Massey scored 14 points, including four 3s.

North Dakota St tops Western Illinois 100-91 in 2OT

Carlin Dupree scored six of his season-high 22 points in the second overtime and North Dakota State remained tied for the Summit League lead with a 100-91 win over eighth-place Western Illinois on Saturday. Dupree’s free throws 38 seconds into the second overtime made it 89-87 and the Bison never trailed thereafter.

After slow start, Lumberjacks pick up victory

Kevon Harris scored 14 points and TJ Holyfield 13 and Stephen F. Austin recovered from a dismal start to beat Southeastern Louisiana 60-52 on Saturday night for its fourth straight win. The Lumberjacks remained a game back of first-place New Orleans in the Southland Conference with the two teams facing off on Thursday.

Haney’s 7 3s power LMU over Pepperdine 82-61

Steven Haney tied a career high with seven 3s and scored 25 points, and Loyola Marymount made 16 of 28 from long range en route to an 82-61 win over Pepperdine on Saturday. Haney finished 7 of 12 from beyond the arc, Brandon Brown went 4 of 5 to finish with 14 points, and Buay Tuach made 3 of 6 and scored 13 points for the Lions .

Maple Leafs adding four to Legends Row

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced four additions to their monuments display outside Air Canada Centre on Saturday evening with Wendel Clark, Red Kelly, Frank Mahovlich and Charlie Conacher completing a set of 14 franchise greats from the first 100 years of the organization. “But what we’ve said is we’d be thrilled to death to have to get some architects down there to Legends Row to figure out a way to extend the bench,” said Shanahan during the first intermission of a tilt between the Leafs and Ottawa Senators.

Iowa State holds off TCU 84-71

Naz Mitrou-Long had 15 of his 25 points in the first half and Iowa State beat TCU 84-71 Saturday to move into a three-way tie for second in the Big 12. Monte Morris added 18 with 11 assists for the Cyclones , who joined Baylor and West Virginia in second – three games behind Kansas. Iowa State has done so in part by winning its last two at home by 28 combined points after letting its Big 12 opponents hang around even in wins in Ames.

No. 4 Baylor women tie for Big 12 lead, 89-67 over Okla St

Nina Davis had a season-high 23 points along with 10 rebounds and fourth-ranked Baylor beat Oklahoma State 89-67 to move back into a share of first place in the Big 12 Conference. The Lady Bears never trailed in their first home game since a loss Feb. 6 to eighth-ranked Texas, which suffered its first conference loss earlier Saturday to set up a showdown for first place.

Easton not yet closing in on new football coach

The search for Easton Area High School ‘s next football coach is well underway, but Steve Shiffert’s successor will not be put up for approval at Tuesday’s school board meeting, athletic director Jim Pokrivsak said Saturday. While two rounds of interviews have been done so far, and some anticipated the process might be wrapped up by Tuesday, the search committee has not made any decisions just yet.

Italian striker Balotelli picked up a straight red card when he argued with referee Tony Chapron in the 68th minute but Nice held firm to secure victory thanks to Cyprien’s 15th-minute effort.

Penn State Thon 2017: Explorers program gives football players a chance to give back to some of their biggest fans

Penn State football’s Lasch Building was turned into a game-playing, fun-loving paradise for about 20 Thon families on Saturday afternoon. About 40 of head coach James Franklin’s players took part in the annual Explorers program, which brings families in for a roughly two hour tour of the football building with stops in the team meeting room, coaches areas, and the weight room.

Former boxer Michael Watson, centre, was the victim of a suspected car-jacking which saw him needing hospital treatment for his injuries Police are investigating an attack on former boxer Michael Watson and his carer which saw the one-time world title contender dragged from a car and left needing hospital treatment. Watson saw his boxing career ended in 1991 after he lost a WBO super-middleweight title contest to Chris Eubank during which he suffered a serious brain injury and afterwards spent 40 days in a coma.

Freshman Peyton Bell placed fourth and senior Jennifer Turner finished eighth in singles while Bell and Nathan Parrott were ninth and Turner and Savannah Shirley were 10th in doubles for the Cumberland bowling teams Friday at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The bowling squads take part in the team portion of the conference tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Southern Lanes in Bowling Green.
