MLB may make unilateral rule changes for 2018

Major League Baseball intends to give the players’ association the required one-year advance notice that could allow management to unilaterally change the strike zone, install pitch clocks and limit trips to the pitcher’s mound starting in 2018. Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred made the announcement Tuesday after union head Tony Clark said last weekend he did not foresee players agreeing to proposed changes for 2017.

Wilcox will start making the transition from his current job as superintendent of Washington County Schools in Maryland next month, and officially becomes CMS superintendent on July 1. MeckEd, a nonprofit education and advocacy group, invited Wilcox to Charlotte’s Goodwill campus to speak with President Ross Danis and field questions from an audience of about 70. One of the biggest challenges Wilcox will walk into is the ongoing work to revamp the CMS student assignment plan.

NFL Draft 2017 Profile: Wide Receiver John Ross

Taking the Cowboys current personnel, draft position, scheme, and needs into consideration; defensive line, linebacker, defensive backs, as well as complementary offensive pieces at wide receiver, tight end, and perhaps right tackle, we hope to profile the majority of the potential prospects that could realistically end up as Cowboys within the first two rounds.

The Timing on Tyrod

Free Agency of course begins on March 9, but teams are able to contact players that are about to become FA’s two days before that, on March 7. That makes me wonder if the Bills, in selecting March 11 as their do-or-die date, wanted to be able to scour the FA QB market, get in touch with guys they might prefer to Tyrod, and see if they can reach deals with them BEFORE either firming up their ties to TT or cutting him loose. That would be a smart way to proceed.
