None of Waubonsie Valley/Metea Valley co-op’s five seniors will be Olympians, but if dreams come true, there will be an aerospace engineer, civil engineer, doctor, nurse and a teacher who eventually will smile while reflecting upon the time they spent as gymnasts.  The co-op came up on the short end of a 140.2 to 128.1 dual meet against Lake Park on Thursday in Naperville, but the night was mostly about celebrating its seniors who were competing in their final home meet. “I remember coming in during sophomore year and watching the seniors and it felt so far away,” co-op senior Claire Samojedny said.

This was another winnable game at the RAC that saw Rutgers falter down the stretch due to a lack of scorers on the roster. Everyone went quiet for stretches in the second half and Northwestern wore Rutgers down on the boards, something that was a bit unexpected.

Foursome Prepares For OVAC – SChampionships

Many teams are tuning up for OVACs which are right around the corner, and that was the case Thursday as John Marshall played host to Weir, Barnesville and Union Local at Four Seasons Pool. John Marshall was victorious in the boys’ event with a narrow 87-74 margin over Weir, while the Red Riders took top honors in the girls’ event with an 89-74 victory over John Marshall and an 84-73 win over the Shamrocks.

MTSU men shut down Marshall 69-57

MTSU’s men became the only undefeated team in Conference USA with a 69-57 win over Marshall Thursday night at the Murphy Center. The Thundering Herd went into the game hot, winners of four in a row, but the Blue Raiders used a strong defensive effort to halt their streak.

Tyreke Evans scored a season-high 29 points and the New Orleans Pelicans, playing without All-Star big man Anthony Davis, defeated the reeling Brooklyn Nets 104-95 on Thursday night. Terrence Jones added 24 points and 12 rebounds for New Orleans , which improved to 6-13 on the road by winning both games during its stay in New York City.
