Coast Guard aids fishing boat that took on water off Grand Isle

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a 45-foot response boat crew from Grand Isle to help those aboard a fishing vessel that was taking on water off the island Tuesday morning , Coast Guard officials said. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans was notified at 6:02 a.m. that the fishing vessel "Jennifer & David" was taking on water about 11 miles south of Grand Isle.

More than 1,000 gallons of electric fluid leaking into Hudson River, Coast Guard says

JERSEY CITY -- An electric pipe leak under the Hudson River has sent hundreds of gallons of electric fluid into the Newport Marina. A cement-encased PSE&G power cable that sits deep beneath the Hudson River is believed to have been leaking dielectric fluid into the waterway for at least month, according to U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Charles Rowe.
