Sen. Ted Cruz met with leaders from throughout the Crossroads on Saturday afternoon to receive an update on Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts. Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller said Cruz reached out to him to set up a roundtable discussion in Victoria in order to get a better idea of what challenges residents continue to face almost a year after Hurricane Harvey struck the area.

With hurricane season upon the Crossroads, Victoria County commissioners will consider awarding a disaster and storm recovery monitoring services contract at their Monday meeting. In a letter to county commissioners, Victoria County Emergency Management Coordinator Rick McBrayer recommended approving a disaster and storm monitoring contract Monday, which would allow Victoria County to negotiate associated costs with disaster and storm recovery up front.
