Austin Haughwout, 19, of Clinton, and his father, Bret Haughwout, are refusing to comply with subpoenas issued by the U.S. attorney's office on behalf of the FAA, saying the subpoenas violate their constitutional right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures and questioning the agency's authority to regulate recreational drones.

Man, child victims of deadly plane crash near Frankenmuth, police say

A man and child were killed Sunday, July 3, after a plane crashed near the end of a landing strip at a small airport near Frankenmuth, according to police. Police, firefighters and paramedics responded at about 5:22 p.m. Sunday to William "Tiny" Zehnder Field for the report of a plane crash, according to a press release from Frankenmuth Police Department.

A small plane that had been trailing a banner over crowds gathered for a fireworks display crash-landed in a Detroit residential street, injuring the pilot and a bystander who was electrocuted by a power line that the aircraft brought down, authorities said.
