A SPATE of drownings across Australia over the Christmas break and incidents with inflatable pool lounges has prompted a fresh reminder about water safety. Consumer Affairs Victoria has issued a warning about the use of inflatable air lounges in water after reports of near drownings.

9-man Athletic beats Barcelona 2-1 in Copa del Rey

Barcelona’s two-year reign of the Copa del Rey was in jeopardy after it lost to a nine-man Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at a packed San Mames Stadium on Thursday. Athletic played a man down from the 74th minute, and two men down from the 80th because of red cards in a drama-filled first-leg match in the round of 16. Aritz Aduriz scored and set up another goal in the first half for Athletic, and Lionel Messi scored for Barcelona from a free kick early in the second half.

At a press event here Thursday during the CES electronics show, John Legere, CEO of the self-proclaimed “Uncarrier,” announced the company will simplify its rate plans and the bills it sends out to customers. It also plans to reward customers who are frugal in their data usage by reducing their next month’s bills.

When his agent released a statement denying any wrongdoing in an incident that had not been reported yet, most figured Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman was in trouble. Immediately after his agent released said statement, a report from ESPN suggests that Coleman has been accused of felonious assault for an alleged incident that took place on New Year’s Eve at his apartment complex.

Speaking at the CES gadget show in Las Vegas, Bosh said that he has been taking time to himself, following his passions, and figuring out where he wants to go next as he sits out, not yet cleared to return to the NBA due to blood clot issues. “For me, I kind of just follow my passions and follow what I love to do and use my free time to kind of answer those questions and go through my bad moods and maybe a little light case of depression,” Bosh said Thursday, via Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press .
