Blackhawks beat Bruins 1-0 on Marian Hossa’s late goal

Marian Hossa scored with 1:26 left to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 1-0 victory over the Boston Bruins on Friday night. It was a rematch of the 2013 Stanley Cup finals, when Chicago scored twice in the final 76 seconds of the third period in Game 6 to overcome a one-goal deficit and claim the NHL title.

Magic pull away for convincing win over Milwaukee

Elfrid Payton scored 20 points, Jeff Green added 18 points and seven rebounds off the bench, and the Orlando Magic snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Milwaukee Bucks 112-96 on Friday night. The Magic, returning home from a 1-5 road trip, played with a small lineup for much of the night and it provided the offence they needed with two of their top scorers out.

Hilton Head resident Bobby Cremins tabbed as SEC Basketball Legend

Bobby Cremins, a former South Carolina standout who twice has retired to Hilton Head Island after coaching stints, has been selected as USC’s representative this season on the 2017 SEC Basketball Legends. Featuring former greats from all 14 SEC member institutions, the legends will be honored at the men’s basketball tournament March 8-12 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

Board praises CHS cross country

Brad Theissen earned his first victory of the season as the Cleveland Monsters blanked the Rockford IceHogs, 2-0, in an American Hockey League game Friday at Quicken Loans Arena. Theissen, added to the roster when Joonas Korpisalo was called up to the Columbus Blue Jackets, finished with 32 saves to improve to 1-3-0.

The KU pole vaulters again proved their depth as trio of Jayhawks moved into the NCAA’s top-10, while the Jayhawk women’s relay team tacked on one of the fastest times in program history.
