The team behind Bristol De Mai, Saturday’s impressive winner of the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock, will seek another piece of evidence at Ascot next month before deciding whether the Ryanair Chase or Gold Cup should be the grey’s Cheltenham Festival target. The 22-length winner, trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies and ridden by Daryl Jacob, faces a likely clash with Cue Card in the A 150,000 Betfair Ascot Chase on February 18. The Grade One contest, run over two miles and five furlongs, three furlongs shorter than the Peter Marsh Chase, was won last year by Silviniaco Conti.
