DHS football gears up to host Grid Iron Gala

Tickets are still available for the Davis High football program’s third annual “Grid Iron Gala” fundraiser dinner. The silent auction – live auction – reception will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall.

Grizzlies’ power play overpowers Aces in Utah

Special teams were both special and harmful for the Alaska Aces in a 6-3 loss to the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday. Stephen Perfetto and Danny Moynihan each delivered short-handed goals for the Aces, but Utah scored three power-play goals and outshot the Aces 39-25 in the ECHL hockey series finale in West Valley City, Utah.

Schlemko’s OT goal leads Sharks past Avalanche 3 2

David Schlemko scored his second goal of the season with 3:42 remaining in overtime and the San Jose Sharks won their fourth straight game, beating the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on Saturday night. Joel Ward and Melker Karlsson also scored to help the Sharks win for the 15th time in their past 16 regular-season home games against Colorado.

Stars Shine as Suns shock Knicks Late

Although the Phoenix Suns are in rebuilding mode, the stars are becoming a force to be reckoned with, especially on the offensive end. And although the New York Knicks are a struggling team barely finding their way after their own re-tooling this past off-season, tonight’s game was still in the Mecca of sports – Madison Square Garden – one of the most exciting and difficult venues to play, regardless of how the talent on the home team’s roster has been performing.

West Virginia drops second straight

In a game that saw many ups and downs, West Virginia found themselves on the losing end of another close game on Saturday evening. The Mountaineers got out to a large lead late in the first half, 38-26, but managed to allow a 10-0 Wildcat run over the last 2:52 to give West Virginia a small, two-point advantage going into the locker room.
