Tree hides portrait of former New Hampshire governor

Visitors to the New Hampshire Statehouse hoping to see former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's portrait currently have to use their imaginations - the painting's blocked by a potted tree in the reception area outside the governor's office. Judy Reardon, former legal counsel to the three-term Democrat, says on Facebook she spoke to Republican Gov. Chris Sununu's chief of staff about the portrait earlier this month and was told the tree had to be in that specific location, as did Shaheen's portrait.

21 States Were Subjected to Russian Hacker Attacks During the US Elections

Wisconsin, Ohio, California and 10 other states said on Friday they were among 21 states that Russian government hackers targeted in an effort to sway the 2016 presidential election in favor of Donald Trump though no votes were changed. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed it had notified the states of the activity but declined to identify them.

Prosecutors asking for 2-year prison sentence for Anthony Weiner

In their sentencing memorandum prosecutors are seeking 21-27 months imprisonment for Wiener, the former US congressman and estranged husband of Hillary Clinton's former adviser Huma Abedin. Prosecutors back up their request by stating, "Weiner, a grown man, a father, and a former lawmaker, willfully and knowingly asked a 15-year old girl to display her body and engage in sexually explicit conduct for him online."

Lawmakers Float New Regulations For Online Political Ads

Two Senate Democrats are trying to rally support for legislation that would require Facebook and other large web platforms to follow some of the same disclosure rules for political ads as broadcasters. On Thursday, Sens. Amy Klobucar and Mark Warner circulated a letter seeking co-sponsors for a bill aimed at increasing transparency of political ads.
