At the direction of President Barack Obama, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is leading the federal government's effort to provide assistance and support to Louisiana, in response to recent flooding. President Obama received updates throughout the day from his team on current response and recovery efforts underway in close coordination with state, local, and tribal officials.

Construction underway on home built for Butte Fire victims

Progress on a 950 square foot house inside the Butte fire zone has been made sporadically. Construction for the house, led by non-proft group Calaveras Recovers, began in May and is expected to be completed by the holiday season Rich Garrity, who lost his Mountain Ranch home in the 2015 Butte Fire, stands in front of a house being built for him in the same location by non-profit group Calaveras Recovers.

Controversial new report claims colleges in ‘$500 million…

Many schools with massive endowments are not doing enough to invest in low-income students, according to a controversial new report by the Education Trust, a nonprofit organization. Dubbing those schools the "$500 million club," the report found that while these institutions represented about 3.6% of all colleges and universities nationwide, they held 75% of the endowment wealth in the country.

The 53-page, 24-count Grand Jury indictment of 69-year-old Brown of Jacksonville, and her 50-year-old chief of staff, Elias "Ronnie" Simmons of Laurel, Maryland, were published Friday, July 8th.

Gordon Klingenschmitt is fighting back against a political advocacy group he believes to be responsible for mailing attack ads against him to Republican voters in his district.
