Without much action at the top of the Republican primary ticket, much of the media and voter attention this election season has focused on races to decide the leaders of lesser-known statewide offices -- the General Land Office and the Texas Department of Agriculture. "It's heated, they're spending money, it's competitive," said Jim Henson, the director of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas.

E-Commerce Company Custom Wristbands Admits to Price-Fixing

The Department of Justice Antitrust Division recently announced that California-based Custom Wristbands Inc. and its top executive Christopher Angeles agreed to plead guilty for conspiring to fix prices for wristbands and other customized novelty products sold online. Earlier this month, DOJ secured a guilty plea from Zaappaaz Inc. , a Texas e-commerce company, and its founder, Azim Makanojiya, who admitted to taking part in a price-fixing conspiracy.

University of Texas joins efforts to remove Confederate statues

University of Texas President Greg Fenves ordered the immediate removal of statues of Robert E. Lee and other prominent Confederate figures from a main area of campus, saying such monuments have become "symbols of modern white supremacy and neo-Nazism." There was a heavy police presence, and some arguments occurred among those gathered, after Mr. Fenves announced the move late Sunday and crews began removing the statutes.
