Seeking 3rd District seat, Gifford hires senior Tsongas staffer to lead campaign

Rufus Gifford, the former U.S. ambassador to Denmark now running to succeed U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, has hired a longtime Tsongas staffer to manage his campaign, hoping the deep in-district experience gives him an edge in a crowded race. Ben Martello, who most recently oversaw management of Tsongas's district offices as executive director, is now serving as campaign manager for Gifford, the candidate announced in a Monday press release.
