New poll confirms Feinstein has big lead in Senate race, but nearly half of voters are undecided
Nearly half of registered California voters are still undecided in the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Dianne Feinstein and state Sen. Kevin de Leon, according to a new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll. Feinstein, who is seeking a fifth full term, holds a 36 percent to 18 percent lead over De Leon among registered voters who said they are going to vote in November, while 46 percent of registered voters remain undecided, according to the poll.

The president of the University of Southern California has agreed to step down amid a raging sex scandal involving a university gynecologist who is accused of conducting inappropriate exams for decades, the chairman of the school's board of trustees said Friday. The university's board has "agreed to begin an orderly transition and commence the process of selecting a new president," Rick J. Caruso, the board's chairman, said in a letter to students and faculty members.

Rhodes scholars for Class of 2017 announced
This year's class of Rhodes scholars from the U.S. includes students who have used data to visualize sea level rise, some who speak several languages and the son of undocumented immigrants. The Rhodes Trust announced the 32 American men and women chosen as scholars early Sunday.
