Predators knock Tuukka Rask out of game, beat Bruins 2-1

Filip Forsberg scored with 2:24 left in the second period, and the Predators beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Thursday night after Bruins’ All-Star goalie Tuukka Rask was knocked out of the game. “It was a test for us, and we showed up and we played our hearts out and got two points and that’s what we came here to do,” Forsberg said.

Wade’s maiden ODI ton finds a way into records book

Pakistan had an early laugh grabbing 5 wickets for nothing significant on board, and leaving Australia stuttering at 78 in the opening ODI at The Gabba, Brisbane. However, Matthew Wade’s impressive century helped Australia to reach a competitive 268 for 9. Cricket Australia team inspects Ranchi stadium prior to India-Australia Test

Ranchi: A four-member team from Cricket Australia visited Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium Complex, Dhurwa, Ranchi to inspect the arrangements for the upcoming Test match between India and Australia scheduled in March. The officials, comprising Adam Fraser , Sean Carroll , Sean Cary and Brendan Drew , visited the International stadium complex, JSCA in a release said.

UFC’s White says he’ll pay Mayweather and McGregor $25 million each to fight

Eternally mythical or not, the subject of a Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight was jolted Friday when UFC President Dana White said he’s willing pay each man $25 million plus a cut of pay-per-view proceeds for a match that White indicated would be a boxing, not mixed martial arts, affair. White, speaking to broadcaster Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports 1, scoffed at Mayweather’s suggestion this week that he’d pay McGregor $15 million for a bout.

David Modell, former Ravens president, dies at 56

David Modell, a former president of the Baltimore Ravens and the son of former team owner Art Modell, died of lung cancer Friday, the team announced. He was 56. Called the “unsung son,” Modell was considered an architect of the Ravens team that won Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.

None of Waubonsie Valley/Metea Valley co-op’s five seniors will be Olympians, but if dreams come true, there will be an aerospace engineer, civil engineer, doctor, nurse and a teacher who eventually will smile while reflecting upon the time they spent as gymnasts.  The co-op came up on the short end of a 140.2 to 128.1 dual meet against Lake Park on Thursday in Naperville, but the night was mostly about celebrating its seniors who were competing in their final home meet. “I remember coming in during sophomore year and watching the seniors and it felt so far away,” co-op senior Claire Samojedny said.

MTSU’s men became the only undefeated team in Conference USA with a 69-57 win over Marshall Thursday night at the Murphy Center. The Thundering Herd went into the game hot, winners of four in a row, but the Blue Raiders used a strong defensive effort to halt their streak.

Terrence Jones added 24 points and 12 rebounds for New Orleans , which improved to 6-13 on the road by winning both games during its stay in New York City.
