Man in US Illegally Guilty of Killing 2 California Deputies

A man in the United States illegally was convicted Friday of killing two Northern California deputies in a case that helped fuel the national immigration debate. Luis Bracamontes was found guilty of murder in the shootings of Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County sheriff's Detective Michael Davis Jr. in 2014.

Democratic congressman Ami Bera wins close re-election race

Democratic U.S. Rep. Ami Bera won his bid for a third term to represent a Sacramento-area district that national Republican leaders had targeted. Bera faced a tough challenge from Republican Scott Jones, the Sacramento County sheriff who raised his profile by criticizing President Barack Obama's immigration policies.
