To crack Minnesota's biggest cold case - the 1989 abduction of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling - authorities went back to the early days of the investigation. They turned a renewed spotlight last year on a man who was questioned soon after Jacob's disappearance but was never charged.
Jacob was 11 when he was kidnapped in October 1989 near his home in the central Minnesota community of St. Joseph. Authorities on Saturday announced his remains had been found.

The remains of Jacob Wetterling, a Minnesota boy abducted from a rural road 27 years ago, have been found, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office said Saturday in a news release. "The Ramsey County Medical Examiner and a forensic odontologist identified the remains as Wetterling's earlier today," the release said.
