Congress is heading toward a postelection showdown over President Donald Trump's wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, as GOP leaders signal they're willing to engage in hardball tactics that could spark a partial government shutdown and the president revs up midterm crowds for the wall, a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign and a top White House priority. Group demands mass Kia and Hyundai recall after hundreds of fire complaints

An advocacy group is demanding for the recall of nearly 3 million Hyundai and Kia cars amid widespread reports of the vehicles catching fire. The group, the Center for Auto Safety, issued a release on Friday which said there have been more than 220 complaints registered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over "non-collision fires" in 2011-14 Kia Sorento, Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata and Hundai Santa Fe, as well as 2010-15 Kia Soul models.

The Latest: 2 more deaths from Michael in North Carolina

North Carolina authorities say a car smashed into a tree felled by Hurricane Michael, killing two people and bringing the total death toll from the storm to 13. McDowell County Emergency Management Director William Kehle says the accident happened about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Marion, located in mountainous McDowell County. State emergency management spokesman Keith Acree said the 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials: Change of address won’t affect Prairie View votes

Texas' secretary of state announced Friday that students at Prairie View A&M University will be allowed to vote in November's election without having to fill out change of address forms, and that officials will be stationed at a campus polling sites to ensure there are no problems casting ballots. Democrats had complained that officials might block students at the historically black college from voting because of issues over addresses they used to register to vote.
