The Indian Point nuclear plant in Westchester County will shut down by April 2021 under an agreement New York State reached this week with Entergy Corp., The New York Times reported today. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who worked hard to save Entergy’s unprofitable FitzPatrick plant from shutting down, has pushed equally hard to close its profitable sister plant at Indian Point, which he criticized as inherently unsafe because of its proximity to New York City.
