SPARC members meet Westchester Knicks

The Westchester Knicks stood shoulder to shoulder with some developmentally disabled individuals on the court before their game Friday at the Westchester County Center. The Knicks and the Raptors 905 were joined on the court during the National Anthem by members from SPARC, an organization that helps people with developmental disabilities engage in social activities.

City to pay out $8M after drunken off-duty cop shoots at two men

Two men who claim that a boozed up, off-duty cop shot at them for no reason will receive more than $8 million in settlement money from the city, officials confirmed. Hockey teammates Joseph Felice and Robert Borrelli were heading home from a game in Pelham in Westchester County in April 2014 when disgraced ex-NYPD Officer Brendan Cronin blasted 14 rounds at their car.

Pace Basketball Heads Back To School With Community Outreach Day

The Pace University men’s basketball team, the Setters, visited William B. Ward Elementary school in New Rochelle earlier this month, and spent a day reading and interacting with students of all ages. Ward Elementary, which is the largest elementary school in Westchester County with an enrollment of over 1,000 students, has unique ties to the Pace men’s basketball program: Pace assistant coach Nat Harris currently serves as the school’s dean of students.

Former city hospitals’ chief to join Northwell Health

Dr. Ram Raju, former chief executive of NYC Health + Hospitals, will become senior vice president and community health investment officer at Northwell Health, a newly created position. In his new role, Raju, who resigned from the city’s public health system two months ago, will assess the most vulnerable communities Northwell serves on Long Island, in New York City and in Westchester County.

NY police searching for man sought for crimes in 2 states

Police say they’re searching for a man considered armed and dangerous after he committed multiple crimes in New York and Connecticut before evading law enforcement. The unidentified suspect is wanted after police say he robbed a bank, stole a car and terrorized a family in suburban Westchester County among other crimes.
