As clock ticks, Republicans try to move ahead on Obamacare repeal

The Trump administration and top U.S. Senate Republicans pushed on Tuesday for action on a bill to dismantle Obamacare, but time was running out and they were still hunting for the votes needed to pass their latest attempt to gut the 2010 healthcare law. Vice President Mike Pence lunched with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill to urge them to approve the legislation introduced last week by Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy.

Bentley weighed ‘trickle-down effect’ in appointing Strange

When scandal-plagued former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley appointed his state's then-attorney general Luther Strange to the U.S. Senate, Bentley apparently considered it a good thing that he would get to name a new attorney general. Strange's appointment to fill Sen. Jeff Sessions' seat came as Bentley faced an impeachment investigation by state lawmakers for the fallout of an alleged affair with a staffer.

Reinsurance approval costly for Minnesota

Minnesota is at risk of losing hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding for the state's health care program for the working poor as it pursues a waiver aimed at lowering premiums for people buying insurance through the state exchange. Gov. Mark Dayton wrote Tuesday to Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price urging President Donald Trump's administration to "reverse this very destructive financial penalty" to MinnesotaCare, the state's program that covers those who make too much to qualify for Medicaid but can't afford private coverage.

Democrats Continue Rigging Own Elections, Learned Nothing Since Trump Won

Despite losing a presidential election, majorities in both houses of Congress, and over 1,000 elected offices across the country throughout the last decade, the Democratic Party is still operating under the status quo. Progressives and young Democrats complain that party leaders ignore Republican-leaning areas of the country and employ dirty tactics in order to defend against progressives attaining leadership roles.

Polls say these are the supporters Trump is losing

The focus on whether President Donald Trump's political base is splintering may be missing an even more important crack in his foundation. Even as Trump faces a geyser of discontent from conservative leaders over his recent legislative overtures toward Democrats, previously unpublished results from an array of recent public polls find doubts about his performance and priorities resurfacing among the better-educated and especially younger Republicans who initially resisted him most during last year's GOP primaries.

The Minnesota Supreme Court acted in the interests of Minnesotans where the governor and Legislature could not when it ordered mediation in a dispute that threatened to make Minnesota government dysfunctional. The court gave the Legislature and the governor a reprieve of sorts to come to compromise Minnesotans expected five months ago.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warns Democrats about working with Trump on DACA bill

Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged Democrats to proceed with caution as they begin negotiating a deal with President Trump protecting young illegal immigrants from deportation before the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program end in March. "I don't like the starting point of this negotiation, and I think the Democrats have to exercise extreme caution because basically what the transaction is is the president saying to the Democrats, 'I'll give you what you already have,' which is DACA," Cuomo said in a radio interview Sunday with 970 AM.

Don’t look now, but Donald Trump’s strategy is beating ISIS in Syria | Mulshine

In recent weeks I read more about the high heels that Melania Trump wore on a trip to Texas than I did about the positive developments in a war that was at the center of the foreign-policy debate in last year's presidential election. In that debate, you may recall, Donald Trump went against most of the candidates from his own party in welcoming the Russian military into the war against ISIS as an ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
