V&E Picks Up Former Head of DOJ Environmental Division as Partner in DC

Vinson & Elkins has strengthened its environmental and white-collar crime practice, hiring Ronald Tenpas, a former assistant attorney general for the environment and natural resources division of the U.S. Department of Justice, as a partner in Washington, D.C. Tenpas, who focuses his practice on government enforcement matters, joined Vinson & Elkins on Monday from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he had practiced since 2009 after spending 12 years with the DOJ. He served as AAG from 2007 through 2009, and earlier served as a U.S. attorney in the Southern District of Illinois.

Lloyd Neurauter Pleads Guilty to Murder of Ex-Wife, Faces 25 Years to Life in Prison

CORNING, N.Y. Lloyd Neurauter has pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder, Custodial Interference in the First Degree and Conspiracy in the Second Degree in connection to the death of his ex-wife, Michelle Neurauter. Lloyd, 48, murdered Michelle at her home on Dwight Avenue in the City of Corning on August 27, 2017 and then staged her death to look like a suicide.

Urban Cookhouse President Charged with Assault; Bernie Sanders Coming to SC

The president of the Urban Cookhouse chain of restaurants, who lives in Columbia, has been arrested in the Lowcountry and is accused of making unwanted sexual advances toward an employee at one of the chain's locations there. On Monday, Mount Pleasant Police charged William Gillespie Jr., 35, of Columbia, with first degree assault and battery.

Premiums for popular ACA health insurance dip for the first time

The average price tag for the most popular level of insurance sold in the Affordable Care Act's federal marketplaces is dropping slightly, the first time the rates have stopped going up since the health plans were created a half-dozen years ago. In the 39 states that rely on HealthCare.gov, the monthly premium is dipping by 1.5 percent for 2019 in a tier of coverage that forms the basis for the ACA's federal insurance subsidies, according to federal figures released Tuesday.
