Local viewing of Oscar’s short film

Tuxedos and flashy gowns are not necessary for anyone seeking a front row seat to the top films in 2016. The Okotoks Film Festival Society is bringing Oscar-nominated short films to the big screen in the Rotary Performing Arts Centre Feb. 23. Live action films will be shown at 6 p.m. and the animated films start at 8:30 p.m., with a repeat screening Feb. 24. The Oscar nominations will be televised on Feb. 24 and the Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California Feb. 26. ‘They are films people often times don’t get to see,’ said Okotoks Film Festival director Katie Fournell of the short films.
