New Delhi, Jan 25 European auto major PSA Group today announced a partnership with the CK Birla group to re-enter the Indian market and earmarked an initial investment of 100 million euros to set up vehicle and powertrain manufacturing in Tamil Nadu. “As part of the first agreement, the PSA Group will hold a majority stake in the joint-venture company being set-up with HMFCL for the assembly and distribution of PSA passenger cars in India,” the two firms said in a joint statement.

UPDATE 1-Peugeot returns to India with Birla manufacturing deal

Jan 25 PSA Group will return to India by 2020, the French carmaker said on Wednesday after unveiling a modest production investment with CK Birla Group, the New Delhi-based conglomerate. PSA, maker of Peugeot, Citroen and DS cars, said it will build cars in Tamil Nadu under an initial 100 million-euro joint venture investment with Birla-owned HMFCL, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

Plea in Supreme Court seeking removal of RBI directors over note ban28 min ago

New Delhi, Jan 19: A petition has been filed in Supreme Court seeking removal of the present Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India for not following its mandate and recommending demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes on the advice of the Centre. The petition said that the central bank has failed to “prepare a plan, feasibility and impact assessment of note-banning and chose to act on the advice of Central Government, without application of mind”.

‘RBI has pumped in Rs 9.2L cr of new notes’

Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel is learnt to have told the parliamentary panel on demonetisation that discussions between the central bank and the government on the process began early last year.
