Car insurance premiums would go up for everyone if a Lowestoft teenager’s plea for a 1,200 cap for young people went ahead, insurance giant Aviva has claimed. The warning came as MPs spent more than two hours debating 19-year-old Rhys Parker’s parliamentary petition which called for a cap on the amount 18 to 25-year-old should pay to insure their vehicles.

Lowestoft man Alex Baldry appears in Norwich court charged with drug possession offences
Alex Baldry, aged 20 and of Beaconsfield Road, Lowestoft, was arrested on March 8 and later charged with a number of offences. These included possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply, money laundering and possession of an article with a blade or sharp point – a lock knife.

The death of a war veteran killed by his daughter could not have been prevented by health workers, an independent review has found. Dennis Nicholls, 89, was strangled to death by his daughter Karen Kimber at his Kirkley Run home in November 2014 after her mental health problems led her to believe he was the devil.
Severe flood warnings downgraded in Suffolk and Essex
Five severe flood warnings – which warn of a danger to life – remain in place for coastal areas towards the north of Suffolk tonight and in the early hours of tomorrow morning. But other severe flood warnings issued yesterday for further south down the coast -such as Ipswich and Felixstowe – have been downgraded to flood warnings, in which there is no danger to life but “immediate action” is still required.
Flood warnings lifted as tides abate along east coast
Tidal levels dropped sufficiently for flood warnings to be lifted along much of the east coast following yesterday’s storm surge. Minor flooding had been predicted on this region’s coastline and tidal waterways – with alerts remaining in place overnight for the River Yare, in Norfolk, and homes near the New Mills Sluice, in Norwich.
