Shameful: Would-be Tesco store lies empty eight years on from college closure

Councillor Susan McDonnell has wrote an open letter to Tesco’s CEO about the eyesore in Peterlee after the supermarket giant pulled its plans An abandoned and derelict building still stands at the heart of a County Durham town, two years after Tesco pulled out of plans to build a supermarket. Standing empty for eight years, the former East Durham and Houghall site was set to be transformed into a new store providing more than 400 jobs to a deprived community.
