New Delhi : In yet another horrifying incident, the son of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s brother-in-law Akansh Sen, died in the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research , Chandigarh after battling for life for nearly 36 hours. Akansh, who was the nephew of former MP Pratibha Singh, wife of Virbhadra Singh was left critically injured after two youths from Punjab hit him early on Thursday from BMW car in Chandigarh’s upscale Sector 9. The car driver did not stop the vehicle and crushed the victim’s head under its wheels.

Dharamshala declared second capital of Himachal Pradesh

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday declared Dharamshala, situated in the snow-capped Dhauladhar range, the second capital of Himachal Pradesh. Camping at Dharamshala these days during the second week of his annual winter sojourn, he made this declaration which said that the State government was mulling over declaring Dharamshala as Winter Capital of the State for two months in a year.

New Delhi, Jan. 5: The majority of ex-servicemen associations have extended support to the Congress ahead of the Assembly elections in five states, giving a fillip to the beleaguered party particularly in Punjab and Uttarakhand that have lakhs of families with serving and retired soldiers. Today, the Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement announced its support to the Congress, days after the Indian Ex-Servicemen League, a 4-lakh strong organisation recognized by an act of Parliament, and the Sanjha Morcha of Punjab did so.

Tax tribunal rejects Virbhadra Singh’s appeal; HP CM alleges political vendetta

In a setback to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal has dismissed the appeal filed by him against the order of the Income Tax department, which had sought fresh assessment of his tax returns related to the financial year of 2009-10 to 2011-12. The veteran Congress leader termed the development as “politically motivated” and said that he would contest the orders and file an appeal in the High Court or in the Supreme court, if the need arose.
