The following statement was made by Senator Maulana Dr Waffie Mohammed during his recent contribution in the Senate on the debate on child marriage: ‘…the age of puberty will vary in climatic conditions…from place to place…’ Senator Mohammed has spoken of puberty in the context of it being a definitive factor in deciding whether a girl should be married during her minor years. I have conducted diligent and vast research, reading scientific studies conducted throughout the world so as to attempt to confirm the effect of climate on the onset of puberty.
