The New Zealand champions left it late to see off a spirited challenge from the hosts of Group B, Hienghene Sport, on Wednesday night at Stade Yoshida in Kone, New Caledonia, scoring two goals in the final six minutes to win 3-1. Tom Jackson had got them off to the perfect start with a his goal in the 12th minute, but Hienghene fought back through a wonder goal from New Caledonia international Bertrand Kai in the 33rd minute.
